History
In the year 1930, Mr.Subbian who was a school teacher and astrologer in a village called Erisanampatti near Udumalpet, started practicing siddha for his living. This was the first stone set for future of “Tamil Siddhar Nilayam“. He was succeded by Kaviraj Dr. E.S. Ramasamy, R.I.M.P. who discontinued his studies in his 3rd standard because of poverty and studied astrology under Thekkampatti Murugesan and Jothidar Kuramarasamy Achariya while working. He excelled in this field and became famous and most sought astrologer in Pollachi and Udumalpet taluk. He wrote two outstanding astrological books, “Sookuma Pancha Patchi nool“, “Moola kanitha kakolam” and “Thiru Kanitha Ramasekaram” which is still widely used by astrologers. Then he got interested in siddha system of medicine at the age of 30 and studied hard and got his R.I.M.P. certification by passing the examination conducted by the government of Tamil Nadu. He was guided by Eminent siddha physiocian Mr.Kannusamy Pillai and started practicing Siddha. He moved to Pollachi in the year 1963 and started Tamil Siddhar Nilayam.
He prepared all siddha medicines himself and streamlined the production. He also maintained the records of the patients and the treatments given to the patient and their prognosis. He was interested in tamil literature and wrote “Valigathi“, “Thirukural unmai urai vilakkam“, “Murugan Anthathi“, “Raman Anthathi” and “Nagore Andavan Arutpa“. Later in his life, he involved in rasavatham i.e, alchemy and successful in making rasamani(Solid state of mercury). He was honoured with titles “Kanitha Jothida Maha Vidhvan“, “Vaidhya Mani“, “Kaviraj“, “Vaithiya Saravam” and “Tamil Siddhar” by various communities.
He was succeeded by his son E.R.Sivanandam, GCIM, DM&S, who studied integrated medicine in Ayurveda and also medicine and surgery in Alopathy system. He prepared medicines mostly for Chronic ailments such as Psoriasis, Vitiligo, Asthma etc. He took “Tamil Siddhar Nilayam” to next level. Presently Dr.S.Ramasamy completed B.S.M.S from Government Siddha medical college, Palayankottai is taking on the ancestors job and continuing services. He is doing research work in DAO, migrane, Alopecia and Sinusitis. He also took community services and supports MSC and Ph.D students for their research work in Siddha medicine. He is one of the trustee of Siddhi Charitable Trust which conducts CME programmes for siddha promoting botanical gardens etc. and working to promote siddha world wide.
